Application Development

The best application is the one that fits the work. We design and build applications around real workflows, not around a template.

Custom business application interface

Overview

What it is

Application development is the design and construction of software that delivers a specific capability: a customer portal, an internal operations tool, a field or mobile application, or a desktop product. It spans user experience, front-end and back-end engineering, data, integration and deployment, delivered as a coherent product rather than a collection of screens.

The problem

Problems we solve

  • Processes running on spreadsheets and email that should be an application
  • Off-the-shelf software that forces the business to work around it
  • Outdated interfaces that slow staff down and generate errors
  • Applications that cannot integrate with the rest of the system landscape
  • Poor mobile or remote access for a distributed workforce

Why UVJ

Why teams choose UVJ for this

01

Workflow-led design

We map how the work is actually done before deciding how the application should behave, which is why adoption holds.

02

Accessible and responsive

Applications are built to work across devices and to be usable by everyone, including keyboard and assistive-technology users.

03

Designed to integrate

Applications are built as part of your system landscape, not as another silo.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do you build native mobile apps?

We build mobile applications where mobility genuinely changes how the work is done, including cross-platform approaches that share logic with a web application. We will usually recommend against a native app if a responsive web application would serve the user equally well.

How do you approach user experience?

With user research and workflow analysis first, then interface design, then implementation. Accessibility and responsive behaviour are part of the design, not a retrofit.
