Embedded firmware for a connected patient-monitoring device
Firmware and connectivity engineering for a wearable monitoring device, from sensor acquisition to secure cloud synchronisation.
Challenge
The challenge
The device needed reliable real-time acquisition from biosensors, on-device detection, secure connectivity to a cloud back end, and a firmware update path — all within medical device regulatory expectations.
Context
The context
Hardware design was already in progress. Firmware and the software layers around it needed to be engineered alongside it rather than added afterwards.
Solution
Our approach
- 01 Developed embedded firmware for biosensor acquisition and real-time scheduling
- 02 Implemented on-device signal processing and anomaly detection
- 03 Built BLE and Wi-Fi connectivity with encrypted transmission
- 04 Established an over-the-air update pipeline
- 05 Structured documentation and validation evidence to support regulatory review
Implementation
How it was delivered
Firmware developed in close coordination with the hardware team, with an emulation harness that allowed control logic to be tested before the final board revisions were available.
Let's engineer what's next.
Tell us about the problem. You will speak with an engineer who understands the domain, not a call centre.
